Title: Baryon electric dipole moments from strong CP violation

Speaker: Dr. Fengkun Guo (Bonn University)

Dr. Guo obtained his Ph.D. degree from Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007, and was a postdoctoral research fellow at Juelich research center between 2007 and 2010. Since 2010, he has worked in Bonn University and in 2012 became the Principal Investigator of projects A.5 and B.3 in SFB TR 110 “Symmetries and the Emergence of Structure in QCD". His main research interests include effective field theories, (partially quenched) chiral perturbation theory, hadron spectroscopy, especially on the new hadron states, heavy quarkonium physics, chiral extrapolation, and neutron electric dipole moments. He has published more than 40 papers in leading academic journals, including five in Physical Review Letters.

Abstract:

Baryon electric dipole moments (EDMs) are CP violating quantities, and are very sensitive to new physics beyond the standard model. Strong CP problem and the experimental status of the neutron and proton EDMs will be briefly introduced. Chiral extrapolation and finite volume corrections will be discussed in the framework of chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-leading order.
