Title: Multi-Boson Interactions at ATLAS
Speaker: 李数 特别研究员 (李政道研究所/上海交通大学)
Abstract:
The multi-boson production measurement using ATLAS pp collision data at √s = 7/8/13 TeV is a important way of probing the electroweak interactions in Standard Model (SM). The measurements not only precisely verify the SM theory high order predictions but also search for new physics through the triple/quartic gauge-boson vertices via model independent anomalous couplings and for heavy resonances through "exotic" kinematics. Besides, the SM multi-boson productions are also the irreducible backgrounds of dibosons produced by the decays of Higgs and other exotic resonances induced by new physics beyond SM. This seminar presents two major multiboson physics sectors in ATLAS Run-I and Run-II including both the SM multi-boson production (and scattering) cross section precision measurements with selective topics and the new physics search in Z+photon final states, which independently investigated and resolved the 750GeV di-photon excess in 2016, and the 1st every H+photon resonance search in the collider experiments, which has been the very recent ATLAS Physics briefing highlight:

Speaker’s CV:
Shu Li is the 1st T.D. Lee Junior Fellow at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute & Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his PhD in 2012 from University of Science and Technology of China and Centre de Physique des Particules de Marseille, France.
Shu Li's PhD thesis involves the 1st di-boson PRL publication in ATLAS on the observation of di-boson WW process, which greatly promoted the 2012 Higgs discovery through WW final states. From 2013.2 to 2017.8, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Duke University and continued his leading role in ATLAS multi-boson physics in general.
Shu Li co-led and completed ATLAS Run-1 1st pure electroweak rare process measurement in Z+photon+jj final state and Run-2 1st heavy resonance search in full-hadron final states of Z+photon, which helped to resolve the 750GeV di-photon puzzle in 2016, and completed the H+photon resonance search for the 1st time ever in the collider experiments.
Shu Li has been leading various important physics and performance groups, being the conveners of: MC validation group (2015.12~2017.1), SM Electroweak physics group (2017.4~2018.3), Generator Development and Tuning group (2018.4~Present), and has been promoted recently to co-lead the LHC-wide (ATLAS-CMS-LHCb) electroweak multi-boson working group at CERN starting from 2018.10 onwards.
